LATN 101: Beginning Latin

In beginning Latin (LATN 101 and 102) students learn the essentials of Latin grammar and vocabulary while reading original and adaptations of Roman novels, love letters, schoolbooks, and inscriptions.

In intermediate Latin (LATN 201 and 202) students conclude the essentials of Latin grammar and vocabulary, develop fluency in reading connected Latin passages, and begin reading their first, complete, classical Roman text.

Third-year Latin aims to enhance students’ skills in reading unadapted Latin and to introduce them to some of the great authors of classical Latin literature.

Latin 401: Latin Prose

Studies in history, oratory and/or philosophy. May be repeated for up to 12 credits. It is recommended that the corequisite course be completed prior to LATN 401.
